If you were experiencing problems with Twitter in the last few days,a group called Underground Nazi Hacktivist Group (UG Nazis) claim they took down the huge social networking site.All because they support the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) which would give the government access to a lot more information about users.
Last night, a Twitter executive posted a blog post explaining what crashed their network. President of Engineering, Mazen Rawashdeh, explained a cascade bug wrecked havoc through their system. Rawashdeh also dismissed rumors saying Twitter crashed over a hacking, Euro 2012 or even the GIF avatars.
Twitter’s President of Engineering explained the bug that cascaded through their network can significantly impact all users, worldwide. “As soon as we discovered it, we took corrective actions, which included rolling back to a previous stable version of Twitter” read his blog post.
Security analyst Lawrence Pingree with Gartner believes that even if UGNazi launched an attack on Twitter, it wouldn’t have been strong enough to cause an outage.
Twitter executive explained due to over usage “Power outage” effect that cascaded throughout Twitter community and throughout the world.For two hours from 8:30 am to 10:30 am yesterday morning.That Twitter users didn’t shut off their computers,but moved to Facebook.
This isn’t the first time the supposed hacking group attacked.Other web-sites include:CIA.com, CloudFlare and BP.com.
One of the hackers explained that she couldn’t believe how easy it was to take down Twitter.
Hackers have also been known for attacking celebrity cell phones and distributing nude photos online. Along with attacking social networking sites which ultimately forced many celebs such as Miley Cyrus,Demi Lovato,Selena Gomez,Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj to delete their Twitter accounts.
