Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are ending their E! TV reality spin off show just one month after reports of a divorce emerged.
The couple, married for two and half years, has made the strategic move to end their show in a bid to help revive Odom’s NBA career following his abrupt departure from the Dallas Mavericks, according to TMZ.
Odom, a 13-year NBA veteran, has reportedly been mentally and emotionally fragile since leaving the Mavericks which happened after months of posting disappointing stats which critics partially attribute to his involvement with reality television.
The couple’s decision to end their show will likely have upset Kardashian Matriarch Kris Jenner, who has reportedly been pressuring the depressed 32-year-old to continue filming “Khloe & Lamar” despite the fact that it has almost ruined his NBA career, according to Hollywood Life.
“Kris is eager for Khloe and Lamar to do another season of their reality show, but Khloe has been telling her that she is not sure yet. She doesn’t want to push Lamar into doing anything he doesn’t want to do, because she knows it will only backfire,” a friend close to the Kardashian family had told HL last week.
“Kris thinks doing another season will help their relationship, but the real reason she wants them to do another season of Khloe & Lamar is because she thinks the show keeps them relevant,” the source added.
Kardashian, 28, has reportedly been trying to save her troubled marriage to Odom, which may have been the reason that she agreed to end their show. However, new reports suggest that their marriage has been at a “point of no return” since Odom was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers last year, and that their move to Dallas has added further strain, according to Star Magazine.
“Khloe put on a brave face and prayed that a new beginning in Dallas would be good for their marriage. Sadly things have only gotten worse. Lamar is super depressed and Khloe is really having trouble handling his emotional issues,” a source told Star Magazine.
Odom’s depression was likely triggered after his trade from the Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 11, and in conjunction with Khloe’s ongoing struggles to conceive, the couple is said to be stressed and headed towards a divorce.
“Lamar is getting tired of her obsessing over [having a baby]. They’re only intimate now when they schedule sex,” the source said.
Initial claims about troubles in the couple’s marriage began in January when it was reported that Kardashian was furious after reports surfaced that Odom had engaged in a sleazy night out at a Washington D.C. strip club.
“Khloe viewed his actions as cheating. She felt violated,” the source explained.
