Tuesday marks the 48th anniversary of one of the most tragic events to take place in America -the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Kennedy was elected in 1960 and was the youngest president to be elected at that time. He was the United States 35th president. Kennedy attended a private school called Choate and later graduated from Harvard in 1940. He later served in World War II with the Navy. His term lasted 3 years until his assassination in 1963.
On November 22, 1963, Kennedy was gunned downwhile riding his presidential motorcade through downtown Dallas. He suffered a head wound by a shooter suspected to be Lee Harvey Oswald. But before any conclusion was reached,Oswald was shot and killed while he was being transferred from a city jail to a county jail.
He was a President that came from a powerful family.Attended a private school setting that was a complete contrast to the lives of 1960s working-class Americans.Many believe he tried to do the best he could,as any President does.”Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
Nearly five decades later, Americans are still learning about a president whose time was viciously cut short.In an era with so many mysteries.
